Last Saturday was the annual garden tour for the Brighton Garden Society. This year's tour featured a baker's dozen gardens in the Oak Square and Faneuil neighborhoods.
The first garden on the tour was particularly special -- as you can see from the first picture -- and won city-wide awards the past two years.

I am a beginning urban gardener in Brighton, MA. As with many city gardens, the presence of nearby buildings and mature trees combine to make my garden mostly shady. Many of my experiments consist of trying to grow sun-loving plants in the shadiest possible site for them still to bloom.
